About Manuel Cornwall

OUR MISSION

We are committed to providing for our children/  young people with a caring and positive environment in which they can achieve independence and fulfil their potential.

To achieve our mission, we will:

  • Develop quality services in partnership with Local Authorities, young people and their families.

  • Provide well-planned and structured programmes of care to meet identified individual needs of young people.

  • Recruit and develop staff committed to the organisational goals and with the values and skills necessary to provide for the needs of the young people in our care.

  • Develop a positive culture by encouraging young people to realise and achieve their goals.

OUR ETHOS & PHILOSOPHY

We believe that every child has a right to feel safe, be treated with dignity and respect and grow up in a positive, warm, and nurturing environment. We look to make their experience with us as close to a family home as possible, ensuring that they are treated with care and that they feel valued.

Support provided by Manuel looks to encourage and support children to develop trusting relationships with staff to promote their sense of wellbeing, self-esteem, and confidence

We recognise that every child is an individual whose experiences, and circumstances are as different and unique as the child themselves. As such we look to provide support that embraces that’s child’s uniqueness and work with the child and placing authority to ensure their care plans reflect this.

OUR AIMS & OBJECTIVES

  • We aim to meet local and national standards ensuring that our children/ young people are safeguarded.

  • We will strive to maintain good family links in the interest of the child’s overall development and in line with their wishes and feelings, where possible (unless there are safeguarding reasons not to).

  • We aim to listen to children/ young people, encourage and promote their participation in all aspects of their care.

  • We aim to empower our children/ young people.

  • Each child will have an individual programme, informed by them as well as the relevant professionals. This will include their educational attainment, physical health, dietary needs, and emotional wellbeing. This programme will be supported by a plan, which will be reviewed and updated on a regular basis.

I am the Director and founder of Manuel Cornwall. Prior to setting up the service, I worked in a range of positions within Children’s Social Care department stemming from front-line practice to working within the professional and learning departments for different Local Authorities in England and Wales. I have over 12 years of experience working with children and families. My key skills are creating imaginative and innovative care packages to ensure positive outcomes for children and young people within our care settings. My passion is in making a difference, not only to the children and young people we support but equally to the team around the children.

I have been working in Health and Social care for 18 years I have worked in a range of services both supporting adults and children. I joined Manuel in April 2023. My passion is supporting young people to reach their true potential, through creating safe, fun and caring environments, building positive relationships and supporting children to thrive through providing as many opportunities Cornwall has to offer.

I have been working within Children's services for 17 years. Throughout my time in children services, I have had the pleasure of seeing young people grow and develop into adulthood achieving the most amazing things.

I have a passion for the work that I do and feel privileged to be a part of the Manuel Team.

I am a senior support worker at manuel. I have been working here for over three years, during this time I have completed various training courses and I am currently close to completing for my level 3 Diploma in children and young people residential care. I love coming to work every day and being part of such an amazing , hardworking team! Our house truly feels like my home, and every day I feel incredibly privileged to be a part of our young people’s journeys here.

I have 22 year's experience working in the care sector.  I have been a foster mum for over 14 years I have also worked with LD and Autism, mental health , dementia .  I am easy going, laid back, approachable, caring and have empathy.

I enjoy music and going to music festivals, love to read, love cooking. I am also part of a voluntary group called Rice and Peas Community in which we cook foods such as vegan, vegetarian and Caribbean food in the community to bring people together.

My name is Lisa and I have worked in the community for 10 years, taking care of people of all ages with additional needs. I very much enjoy taking care of people and am so happy to be part of the Manuel team. I can’t wait to help take care of young people and to help them to realise their worth in this world.

Baking cakes is something that I do to wind down. The kitchen is definitely the heart of my home. I also love nature. I really love woodland walks and seeing the beautiful outdoors no matter what season. I also love gardening and growing my own vegetables and flowers.

I have done lots of different kinds of training such as Understanding Autism, Health and Nutrition and I am also First Aid trained. I am about to embark on my Level 3 Residential Childcare journey as well as a Level 2 Counselling course.

I have worked as a school teacher for more than twenty years. I enjoy working with young people, helping them realise their dreams. I find my role at Manuel Cornwall quite fulfilling.

I have worked as a healthcare assistant for 2 years. Taking care and assisting children has been my passion.I love looking after the well-being of children in their daily lives, supporting them to reach their potential by providing both physical and emotional support to live their life more independently. I am grateful that Manuel Cornwall has given me this opportunity to create an impact on young people's lives.
